Well i didn't know that, My warrior doesnt show her helm, which is why i probley never noticed that or payed attention to it. Still, i just think beacuse there isn't a whole lot there, or a real reason for being their, is why its so empty.

Also one of my favorite spots. i think its a gorgeous place. But, at least with it being empty, I can get good SS's there without other characters in the background

I use to conduct most of my trades there. Nice quiet place with no trade spam.

Lion's Arch served as an entry point to PvP arenas (before the isles). It was the first place to offer sigs of capture. It had very strong historic meaning from beta events. It was the non-noob city compared to Ascalon. And it served as primary staging area for all the events.
That made me remember a "beginner's guide" to Guild Wars I read before buying it. I think it was on this site lol.

It described Lion's Arch as a point in the game that you were GOOD if you got there, using sentences like "You can progress through the long string of missions, or you can travel through some very hard cave areas with enemies that even level20's fear!" or something like that. :\

So LA and Ascalon made simply because of their position in the story line. Droks and LA were major trading posts, but since the new chapters have come out, Droks has declined in importance. LA is then the only real 'city' left in Tyria, because it is a port to other chapters. What, then, is the capital city of the world of Guild Wars? is it Kodash Bazar(sp), or Kaineng, or is it still LA?

The jungle just plain sucks and most people avboid it, everyone passess through amnoon but once they get to augry rock that is where the majority of people gather for hydra farming, queen farming and the rest of the desert is accessible from there.. at least it used to be it's probably just as empty now lol

Nobody likes the life pods. Critical failure for the jungle.

LA is the capital mainly cuz itsin the first chapter

Droks and ascalon are still trade centers, but secondary. i wouldnt say that LA is the only "city" left

Well, since the release of Nightfall even Droknar is looking like a ghosttown lately (especially after midnight)...

Personally i like the jungle, but i also remember that i hated those poisonous spiders when i came there with my 1st character (elementalist with no heal :S)... but after finishing the game with 3 chars i didnt wanted to do every quest anymore. The easiest way to do that is to goto Sanctum Cay from ToA (so skipping the whole Jungle area). I think many players feel the same about that...

As far as Amnoon Oasis is concerned that is a place that you have to go to. You automaticaly get dropped there from Sanctum Cay's mission and that is the first town in the desert that you visit. That makes it a portal of sorts in you must go there to ascend. Certian quests cannot be done without going through the desert and that is a big reason for it. If you are a Tyrian you must go through the desert or you will not be able to get into UW or FOW due to you not ascending.

That leads to another question of mine. If you ascend your Tyrian born in Cantha (Wen no Shu) are they ascened? Can they do UW and FoW?

Not any more, an Elonian Character (who has Prophecies on their account) can go to the Crystal Desert Overlook portal and get teleported directly to the desert without ever setting foot in Sanctum Cay or Amoon Oasis.

Not any more, any character that comes from Elona (who has Prophecies on their account) can go to the Crystal Desert Overlook portal and get teleported directly to the desert without ever setting foot in Sanctum Cay or Amoon Oasis.

Where is this Crystal Desert Overlook portal? I don't recall seeing or hearing of it before.

I think it is in the north of the Desolation. Tyria and Elona are part of the same landmass, so it would make sense for it to be there.

For HoD, 2 reasons.

1. The jungle is the least played part of the game, people hated it and it is easy to skip the whole area with a simple and cheap run, or even fighting with henchmen for 20 mins.

2. Storage was a 2 min walk from all the other services. Worst designed city ever. It was quicker to map to another outpost and get what you want from storage, then come back, than walking to it in HoD.

For Amnoon Oasis:

Augury Rock was a centralised outpost that had enough services, and was the more convenient desert location. When you arrive in Amnoon Oasis, generally the first thing you want to do is get to Augury Rock because that is the main hub for the desert through which trade and runners go.

Henge of Denravi didn't make it as a city because of a couple of reasons:
- No quests start here. Only the main quest to get to Riverside Province, In ascalon, LA are lots of quest which can be done
- There's nothing else for us to do there. No quests in the surrounding area's like Tangle Root and Dry Top. it's empty, not much excitement there.
- No farming here. At droks, before the update, people get powerlvled at farming Trolls.
- The Sanctum Cay Run

As a poster before me said, Ascalon and LA and Droks too are places people "can't avoid". Much player travel rom kaineng center to LA, and a lot of new players get to ascalon just after they left Pre. these are the reasons i think HoD didn't become a grat city like droks or LA

The portal to the Crystal desert is in the far northwest corner of the Elona Map. You have to be near game end to get there, and you need to be able to ride the worms to get there as well. The portal is two way, you can return via the Crystal Desert. It drops you off in the Arid Sea on the south perimeter. If you can't ride worms or don't have the right game account, the gatekeeper will not let you through. There is even a quest in Elona that requires that you go to the Crystal Desert and pass through Augrey Rock.
